Welcome one and all to April’s edition of Brilliant-Online.
It is that time of the year once again when we all enjoy the numerous splendours that Easter has to offer – typically spending time with family and loved ones, enjoying a hearty meal, Easter egg hunts with the kids and, of course, indulging in our fair share of chocolate eggs and bilbeys!
This month we’re going back in time with a focus on heritage as we take a peek into the back-stories of local businesses such as Harold Vickery & Son, the Douglas Vale Homestead and Winery, Wauchope APEX and the Hastings District Flying Club. We also learn more about the acclaimed Mrs York’s Garden and serve up a history lesson on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Elsewhere, we catch up with Port Macquarie’s own soon-to-be flying physio as we chat to aspiring pilot Alasdair Thomson of PhyxYou. TG’s tells us about their “Munch & Move” initiative, and Dr Namira Williams, CEO of disAbility Maternity Care, offers some invaluable maternity advice for parents with disabilities.
With Easter upon us, we also take a whirlwind trip around the world to learn some of the more curious, often humorous and sometimes downright dangerous traditions for celebrating the occasion. We check in with Wauchope Creative Hub’s recent Purple Rain exhibition winner Alycia Lipovac, and last and perhaps least, yours truly shares a personal history on the generations-long heritage of being a sports club fan.
