✦ Bravehearts Mid North Coast fundraise year round for Child Protection Education

Bravehearts Mid North Coast is a volunteer committee who fundraise year round to provide free professional Child Protection Education to local children in Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2. This is in the form of a safe interactive show which gives the children skills to keep their bodies safe and to remove themselves from risky situations.

This Friday 9th September is Bravehearts Day to raise vital funds and awareness to protect children from the atrocious crime of child sexual abuse.

“Being a mother myself, I am passionate about equipping our children with the personal safety skills they need,” Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams says.

“Bravehearts do fantastic work and I value the opportunity to support this Committee here in Port Macquarie.”

The Ditto in a Box resource uses colourful posters, flashcards, a fun activity book and a DVD of the Ditto Show to help teachers and parents engage with students and explore personal safety messages with young children.

“Our local Bravehearts Committee is incredible and are determined to make sure that every child on the Mid North Coast has the opportunity to participate in the ‘Ditto’ show."

Bravehearts is fully funding this education for just under 2,000 local kids at a cost of over $25,000. Bravehearts has been working hard to raise awareness and support education so children and young people can grow up safe, connected and supported in their communities.

Despite heavy rains and gusty winds on the afternoon of Saturday, 3rd September, many attended the high tea at Port Macquarie Race Course. The event was booked out at 120.

The highlight of the event was the fashion parade led by Vicki Carnes of Victoria Modeling Agency and sponsored by Sharon of Glasshouse Emporium with several attendees providing their wedding dresses modeled by the local ladies in Port Macquarie. It was uplifting to see so many come together to show their support.

With raffles and auction, Bravehearts Mid North Coast estimated that they raised between $4,500-$5,000.

If you wish to support, the best is to attend functions organised by Bravehearts - it makes a big difference to see and meet a community coming together. Donations are also welcome at any time. Businesses can support by donating raffle and auction items. All donations are tax deductible.
