✦ After COVID delays and previously planned washed-out events, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Business Port Macquarie organisations are again coming together to host their annual Charity Golf, Luncheon and Bowls event on Friday 28 October 2022 at the Wauchope Country Club.
The Mid-North Coast is unfortunately one of the highest areas to call on the helicopter’s services…Business Port Macquarie is honoured to be able to support such a worthy charity.
The service runs four AW139 helicopters across three bases, servicing 1.5 million people in Northern NSW, and has been saving lives since 1975.
The Community, their Business Partners, and the NSW Government through NSW Health and NSW Ambulance, provide the funds to ensure the Westpac Rescue Helicopter continues to save lives across Northern NSW.
Westpac are the naming right sponsors and we believe that it's one of the longest corporate sponsorships that's running in Australia. It started as Wales Bank, started with surplus saving and has since developed into the state-of-the-art aeromedical flying ICU units that they are today.
What you may not know is the charity is only 70% funded by the government, and events like these save us as taxpayers a total of $15 million a year, because that's what is raised in fundraising. Where every dollar raised goes into keeping this service airborne and ready to save lives at a moment’s notice.
Every time the helicopter takes off, they’re called missions. The emergency missions are tasked by NSW Ambulance in response to Triple Zero (000) calls. Every life they save and every person they assist provides a reminder of the critical role they play within the Northern NSW emergency care chain.
