The Cup is Back to support Mental Health!

✦ After a two year COVID hiatus the Neami Community Cup is back better than ever.

The Neami Community Cup began in 2018 as a way of bringing the community together during mental health month to increase understanding of the topic and support available to those experiencing mental health issues.

About the Neami Cup

To be held on Wednesday 12th October at Findlay Park in Port Macquarie, the Neami Community Cup will include a round-robin soccer competition where teams made up of consumers and supporters from different organisations and members of the public play off for the Community Cup shield.

The day also includes community stalls hosted by various local mental health-based organisations and other agencies which positively impact mental health to share information and fun activities.

A free barbeque lunch, desserts and beverages are also shared.

The target group is a mixture of members of the community: schools/ TAFE/ University, service providers in the mental health and disability sector, consumers, community mental health as well as the Indigenous and local community.

The aim of the Neami Community Cup

To raise awareness around mental health, overcome stigma, role model acceptance, educate people, promote health, have fun, share experiences and create community involvement.

The intention has always been for this event to be a yearly occurrence and, whilst COVID put a hold on that, organisers believe 2022 will be a great restart of this annual event. This year they have welcomed more providers to be part of this event than ever.

The Cup is broad reaching and open to all members of the community and is a great opportunity to listen and learn from others and their experience.

Through this sharing of experience organisers hope the community can come together to recognise the everyday impact of mental health and show the strength of the community. This is a formula for social inclusion, lasting wellbeing and promoting healthy communities.

So come along to play some soccer, learn about the different supports available, enjoy the free food and get to know your community.
