Changes can be fun and exciting, but they can also feel a little uncomfortable. TG's Child Care has put together some helpful tips for families to support the children as they continue Playing it Forward into Big School.
TG's Child Care's school readiness program is designed to make learning fun while building essential skills. Children aged four and upwards engage in activities that help them recognise and write their names, develop early literacy and numeracy skills, and master social skills such as turn-taking, sharing, and resolving conflicts. But school readiness isn’t just about learning; it’s about ensuring children feel confident and prepared for what’s ahead.
A sneak peek into Big School
One of the most exciting parts of their 'pre-prep' activities is the orientation trips TG's organises to local schools. Several of TG's Child Care campuses take children on visits to meet their prep teachers and experience school life through fun school readiness activities like storytime, crafts, and even some exciting experiments. These visits not only get the children excited about school but also help ease any concerns they may have by giving them a sneak peek of what to expect.
Children are heard and supported
TG's Educators work closely with the children during this transition, providing a safe space for them to express their feelings and share any worries. Healthy Harold the Friendly Giraffe has also been a wonderful resource, helping children talk about and understand their emotions, ensuring they feel heard and supported during this time of change.
TG's Child Care also implements The Worry Woos programme to help children develop an understanding of their emotions, feelings and social interactions.
TG's believes in preparing children for school in a holistic way—blending fun learning experiences with emotional support. TG's children not only master counting, letter recognition, and self-help skills but also develop the confidence to tackle the new chapter ahead.
