✦ Port Macquarie Golf Club is the oldest and grandest golf course in Port Macquarie's 100 years history.
History on the green
Time travel back more than 100 years and you'd see early golfers play from the foreshores from Munster Street to Oxley Park. The first course architect for the golf course, Mr. J. Scott was commissioned to submit a plan and work began in 1951. After several delays, the official opening took place in February 1968 by president of the New South Wales Golf Association, Mr Les Graham, with the full 18 holes ready for play.
With such a long history underneath the quiet expanse of green, one cannot help but feel a sense of pride to be standing and putting on the land where Port Macquarie Golf Club stands. One can only take a pause between swings to ponder, who were all the people who have played right here on the very spot you are standing right now?
Learn to golf with a PGA Pro
If you are learning to play golf in Port Macquarie, you'll be very privileged to be coached by James Single, a PGA Professional since 2011.
“I love getting out of the Pro Shop and teaching people to play the game of golf. The thrill I get from teaching when I see a student hit a shot that they thought they weren’t capable of hitting is fantastic.”
More than a golf club
The Port Macquarie Golf Club offers members access to a luxurious 18 hole golf course for either leisurely social play or for competition. They organise tournaments regularly e.g. Better Homes Pro-Am, Leaderboards, Beverley Park, Morgans Seaside Classic, Vets Open Tournament, Women's Open Day. Members also have access to practice fairway, chipping green and putting green.
