Do Good, Feel Good, Look Good with Hastings Landcare

Hastings Landcare conduct regular working bees to protect the environment


With 13 groups across the region, you are sure to find a Landcare group nearby on a day when you have some free time! You can volunteer as often as you like and for as many hours as you like.


Feel Good: meet like-minded people and enjoy some beautiful locations in the Hastings area, all whilst learning new skills! Chat and make new friends whilst working and enjoy building connections at one of our free community workshops – the next is on February 24th at Comboyne Showground, River Restoration and Management. River Restoration and Management Workshop


Interested? Then head to the Comboyne Showground for a River Restoration and Management Workshop. Join Hastings Landcare, North Coast Local Land Services and Comboyne Streamcare in a collaborative workshop to share experience in river restoration and management. This event is funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Landcare holds regular workshops, join in one today to do good for the environment

Learn;

  • Permissions and permit requirements required before carrying out any work including erosion control (rock work) or snagging in the riparian zone (area or land that borders water bodies such as river, stream, creek, billabong, drainage line, pond or lake).

  • About recent erosion control projects/case studies.

  • Best practice management of riparian zones including fencing, off-stream watering, planting and weed control.

  • How to control weeds though demonstrations.

  • About recent work carried out by Comboyne Streamcare. We will take a walk down to have a look at the work and we will keep our eyes out for any platypus!

  • Hear from Dr Alexandra Knight from Charles Sturt University about managing soil, water and vegetation for frogs – our important environmental indicators! Discuss the key features of frog habitat and how to improve it, as well as introducing us to our rare and beautiful local frog species and their calls.

Time: 8:45am for a 9:00am start, until 1pm

Catering: Provided with gluten free and vegetarian option available
