A New Aircraft for Hastings District Flying Club

✦ A beautiful new Sling 2 has flown in to join HDFC's family of planes after 18 months of waiting!

Hastings District Flying Club (HDFC) acquired their very first Sling back in 2019. Now in 2023, with two Slings in the hangar, HDFC is on its way to welcoming their third Sling!

Over the years, the club has significantly increased their annual flying hours, so there is clearly a need for more planes to take aviation enthusiasts to the skies!

The Impressive Sling

Pilots love the Sling. It is an amazing machine designed to be the most practical and desirable Light Sport Aircraft available. It offers coordinated and responsive controls, which is reminiscent of a fighter jet but it is not overly sensitive.

The Sling's performance surpasses that of most other aircraft in its class, while remaining economical and enjoyable to fly. It boasts state-of-the-art avionics, a spacious cockpit, and excellent visibility. In addition to its fun flying capabilities, the Sling 2 is also built to withstand tough conditions.

To give you an idea of how impressive it is, the Sling has successfully completed two around-the-world flights, demonstrating its strength, reliability, and durability.

Now it's easier to learn to fly!

The Hastings District Flying Club has been a hub for recreational flying since 1958, and in recent years, the popularity of this type of flying has soared. This is due to factors such as the simplified administrative system governed by Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus), the introduction of modern Light Sport Aircraft like the Sling 2, and increased affordability.

This strong demand for recreational flying is the driving force behind the club's decision to acquire the Sling 2. The aircraft, ordered over eighteen months ago from South Africa, will enable the HDFC to continue offering affordable recreational flying training and private hire to the Hastings community and beyond.

Applications for a Flying Scholarship will open soon from 1st October. Watch for it on HDFC.com.au
